Public Records

The Public Records Act is a Washington State law that allows a person to request or review government records. Public records include documents in all formats, whether electronic or paper, that relate to government operations and conduct.

All of ELUHO’s documents are considered public records and are subject to public review unless a law specifically exempts certain information from disclosure. Exemptions may be found in the Public Records Act and other Washington and federal laws. Many of these exemptions are designed to protect privacy rights and legitimate business interests.

Finding a Public Record

Many public records are available online through the Case Management System. Requesters are encouraged to look there first for immediate assistance.

Requesting a Public Record

A public record request must be for a reasonably identifiable record or class of records. The more precisely the records are described, the more efficient and effective staff can be in identifying, locating, and providing the records.
